TWO newspaper delivery boys had similar mountain bikes stolen on consecutive mornings in neighbouring streets.
The thefts, in the Whinfield area of Darlington, happened on Tuesday and Wednesday.
In the first incident, a paperboy had left his black Saracen XL mountain bike on the roadside in Dunrobin Close, at about 7am, while he went to deliver a paper.
When he came back, the bike, with front suspension and 14inch wheels, had been stolen.
Police are appealing for a man who was seen getting into his Peugeot car nearby, and who might have witnessed the theft, to contact them.
The following morning, in nearby Morpeth Avenue, a black and silver Saracen mountain bike was stolen between 5.45am and 6.55am in similar circumstances.
The bikes were individually valued at about £300.
Anyone with any information is urged to contact Darlington police on (01325) 467681, or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
