Champions Easingwold suffered their second defeat in as many outings when Dunnington repeated their President's Challenge victory of two weeks ago in the Premier Division.

Easingwold skipper Jonathon Marwood batted throughout his side's 50 overs to make an unbeaten 67 but only Paul Skilbeck (21) gave any vestige of support in a total of 165-7. Joe Grant was Dunnington's most successful bowler, taking 3 for 31 but the decisive spell came from spinner Steve Precious whose 18 overs cost a mere 38 runs.

Dunnington's skipper, Simon Kellett then repeated the act by carrying his bat for an unbeaten 79 as Dunnington eased to an eight- wicket victory in the 49th over with Hamed Khan making 38 in an opening partnership of 79.

Clifton Alliance retained their leadership by having far the better of a draw at Pickering where the home side dug in to reach 133-8 in response to Clifton's 221-7. The Clifton side, who won the league title in 1999, are three points ahead of Dunnington and Osbaldwick who are in joint second place. Aussie Darren Reeve was top scorer for the York side, making 89. He was well supported by Dave Taylor who made 42 and James Postill, a former Pickering player, who made 31. Chris Nicholls led Pickering's response with 37 but Postill (3-25) and John Hunter (3-29) created problems for the home side who were happy to escape with a draw at 133-8.

Sheriff Hutton Bridge and Acomb renewed their friendly rivalry at Moor Farm where Acomb took first innings. Andy Tute (53) hit a handy half century and Duminda Perera chipped in with 20 but home bowlers Paul Oldfield with 4-46 and Aussie Kieran Rodgers who claimed 4-33 restricted the visitors to 132-9. When the Bridge replied, former North Stanley player Philip Mellows-Facer was dismissed for 20 but this proved to be Acomb's only success as Paul Oldfield hit an impressive 69 not out and Peter Crowder made 31 not out to clinch a nine-wicket victory.

Whitkirk's batsmen struggled at Osbaldwick as Sean White captured 4 for 31 and Peter Machin 3-18. Only Grant Galloway made an appreciable score but his 28 could only lift Whitkirk to a modest 128 all out. Western Australian Stuart Boyle emerged as the "wizard of Oz" as he moved to an unbeaten 78. With Simon Jackson adding 34, Osbaldwick won by eight wickets to confirm their high-placed league position.

The plethora of Australians was also evident at Ripon where they top scored for both the hosts and visiting Thirsk. The latter's Lincoln McCrae provided the decisive innings as he hit 65 to help his team reach 168-5. Skipper Dave Greenlay chipped in with 25 and M Greer made 33. Ripon's successful bowlers were Paul Mason with 2-38 and Guy Blackburn (2-33). Sheriff Hutton raced to a seven-wicket Division Four victory over Thirsk seconds in under 13 overs in a game played at Huby because of Thirsk races. Batting first, Thirsk lost their first six wickets for only 20 runs before John Kendall made 19. Nick Ireland had watched the mayhem as he moved to a patient 20 but Richard Armitage's 6 for 31 had Thirsk all out for 52.
