THE East Cleveland area as it was more than 100 years ago can now be revisited thanks to a series of specialist maps
Alan Godfrey Maps has reproduced a one-inch to one-mile Ordnance Survey map for the district around Guisborough, Redcar, Saltburn and Loftus for the years between 1865 and 1884.
The maps show a varied landscape of moorland and coastal plains, the mansions and parks of Teesside's industrial magnates, ironstone mines and quarries.
They also show the Victorian resorts of East Coatham, Redcar and Saltburn and parish boundaries, country lanes and upland tracks.
Maps cost £2.10 each and are available from the Consett-based company (01207) 583388.
