Bass North Cleveland League - Brotton were all out for 87 when they hosted Skelton Castle in Division One. Hogarth with four for 19 in 13 overs and Fergus Grant whose 12.2 overs produced five for 29, were the bowlers who caused Brotton their problems.

Batting first, Skelton Castle ended on 111 which included 36 by Hogarth while for Brotton, brothers Mark and Neil Broughton shared six wickets and Graham Whitwell took three for five. Normanby Parklands defeated Greatham Paragonians by three wickets. The visitors totalled 128 for nine which included 51 not out by Kevin Peake with a six and three fours. Geoff Walker bowled well for Normany Parklands, returning three for 36 in 14 overs, and so too did Roy Myers whose 14 overs earned him figures of four for 39. In response, Normanby Parklands reached 131 for seven even though Hughes took four for 16 in a 12 overs spell for the visitors.

Dormans realised 138 in defeating Staithes by five wickets. Ramzan top performed with 56 and for Staithes Allan, who went in at No 3, carried his bat for 59. Spenceley hit a half century in Hinderwell's formidable total of 178 for three and replying, New Marske were all out for 38 as Theaker claimed five for 15 and Bowes four for eight. Dixon (42) and Barritt (39no) led Loftus to 159 for four declared at The Ladle who responded with 113 for four in a drawn game, their innings including 44 by Pacitto and an undefeated 37 from Sutherland. Ormesby Hall defeated Middlesbrough Co-op by 99 runs after totalling 224 for seven. Smith remained unbeaten on 80 and Trotter contributed 45 while for the Co-op Williams and Cheesborough shared seven wickets. Replying, Middlesbrough ended on 125 all out which included 72 by Pearce while for Ormesby Hall McCabe took two for 41 and Peacock three for 35.

Norton had the edge over Loftus B in Division Two, winning by 13 runs. When they batted first, Norton ended with 123 for six from 45 overs which included 45 by John Norton with four fours. Andrew Drinkall returned three for 24 in 11 overs for Loftus B who were dismissed for 110 in 35 overs. Mark Hogan hit one six and four boundaries in an unbeaten 33 while Jenkins took four for 17 in eight overs for Norton. Skelton Castle B were pegged to 78 for 5 by visitors Moorsholm who went on to win without losing a wicket when Harding ended unbeaten on 32 and Ward finish with 36 not out.

Gillens Sports finished 30 runs ahead of Normanby Parklands after Patterson had made the top contribution of 42 in their total of 105.

Robinson gained three for 30 for Parklands who were dismissed for 75 runs as Henry, Patterson and Dixon shared the ten wickets.

Eurocell Marshall-Tufflex Darlington and District League

The foot-and-mouth epidemic continues to play havoc and only one game went ahead in Division A at the weekend. Heighington managed to stage their game with Middleton St George and the visitors came out on top of a high-scoring game. Faced with a target of 192, Middleton St George rose to the occasion and runs flowed from Rogers (54), Ayub (33) and Nadeen, who top scored with 57.

When Heighington batted first they realised 191 for seven and after losing their two openers for a combined total of 11, they were indebted to Story, who batting at No 3, carried his bat for 64. Later Howard made a good 52 to present Middleton St George with a formidable target. In Division B, there was also just one fixture with Ingleton defeating Lands by 169 runs. Batting first, Ingleton posted a huge total of 231 for two from 40 overs with Stuart Dawson hitting five sixes and 11 fours in 103 not out. John Laundy added 52 with one six and seven boundaries and Steve Stokell had three fours in an unbeaten 44. When Lands replied they never looked like making a winning fight of it and were all out in just 14.4 overs for 62 as Greg Osborne claimed for 26 in 7.4 overs and Ken Gamack had four for 34 from seven overs.

Roseberry Group North East Durham League

Medomsley made short work of their task when they hosted North Bitchburn in Division One. They had the depleted visitors back in the pavilion after 17.4 overs with 62 runs on the board, half of them scored by Lee whose unbeaten 31 included a six and four boundaries. Replying, Medomsley won in 13 overs losing one wicket as Eric Wall carried his bat for 39 with one six and fix fours. Belford House were all out for 78 with Peter Hebron returned eight for 25 in 15.4 overs, six of them maidens, as Washington went on to win losing four wickets.

Coxhoe ended on 178 for seven from 45 overs which included a superb unbeaten 91 by Whitfield and 34 from Newman. Thompson took three for 49 runs for Simonside who in reply managed 154 all out of which Watson scored 35 not out. Both Maddison and Strange claimed three wickets each in the Coxhoe attack. Matthew Dench top scored with 40 when Wearmouth posted 140 at home to Plawsworth for whom Whitfield captured four for 37 and Gott three for 33.

Plawsworth won losing eight wickets when Scattergood hit the half-century while for Wearmouth, Dillon had three wickets at a cost of 42 runs. Bead, Ricketts and Vallance shared the wickets when Sunderland Hospitals realised 139 defeating Littletown by 28 runs for whom Nelson made the top score of the game with 47. Shaw bowled a good end for Hospital taking four for 29. In Division Two, Belmont had 106 runs to spare when they visited Washington. When they made first use of the wicket, Belmont ended on 201 for six as Ian Steel hit 100 not out batting at No 3. Andy Wilkie bowled a lengthy 18 overs for Washington claiming three of the six wickets which fell for 71 runs.

In response Washington were all out in 37.1 overs with 95 runs on the board as Peter Welch took three for 21 in 11 overs. Wold (55) and Barnes (44) propelled Simonside to 130 for five at home to Coundon who went on to win by seven wickets when Thompson finished undefeated on 53. Tantobie were 12 runs short of their target when they hosted Newton Aycliffe who made 188 for seven mainly due to the efforts of Davison (44) and Mitchie (39).

When Tantobie replied they set about their task and Hogarth opened with 37 before Bell scored 77 in a final total of 177 for eight. Roberts claimed three wickets for 33 runs in the Aycliffe attack. Despite 34 by Pratt, Hunwick managed 92 as Freddie Long took six wickets for six runs and East Rainton had six wickets to spare reaching the modest target when they were assisted by 32 extras.

Burnhope were pegged to 77 when they visited Kelloe who also had to work hard for runs. McDonald earned them victory making 34, but for most of the time Watson and Sparks, who both took four wickets, dominated in the Burnhope attack
