GNER is to resume a number of new services with the launch of its summer timetable tomorrow.

The East Coast Main Line operator says the timetable will feature new early morning and evening services on Saturdays between London and Newcastle.

During the week, a new earlybird York to Doncaster service will also connect to the 5.05am Leeds to Kings Cross service, giving a 7.30am arrival time. Direct services are also being resumed to London from a number of locations including Harrogate and Skipton, North Yorkshire. The summer timetable marks the end of a succession of temporary timetables and takes the number of services up to 119 per day.

Passengers are still being advised of delays of up to ten minutes for most services at the start of the new timetable until Railtrack completes essential track work.

Journey times will "improve markedly" after the Spring Bank Holiday, the train operator says.
