AN on-the-run burglar worked in the homes of some of Britain's biggest stars, a court was told yesterday.

While he was working in the homes of his VIP clients, Darren Bullock resisted the temptation to abuse their trust.

Bullock, 27, jumped bail in Middlesbrough, and became an apprentice carpet fitter with a firm with a celebrity client list, Paul Newcombe, defending, told Teesside Crown Court.

He had been due to be sentenced for burgling a pensioner's home in February, 1999.

June Young, 60, was terrified when she found a muddy footprint on her bathroom sink, said prosecutor Neil Wray.

Yesterday, Bullock, of Coat-ham Road, Redcar, was jailed for 21 months when he pleaded guilty to a burglary in Ferndale Court, Middlesbrough, stealing a purse, cash and cigarettes.

He also pleaded guilty to absconding from bail on October 11, 1999.

Bullock is currently serving a two-year sentence for supplying heroin in London to an undercover police officer.
