YOUNGSTERS from schools across Darlington took part in the 2001 Primary School Football Championships at the weekend.
The seven-a-side competition took place at Longfield Comprehensive School and was sponsored by Darlington Borough Council and the Master Skills Sporting Academy.
Pupils from 19 schools took to the field, competing for the Championship Cup and the Fair Play Trophy.
The overall winner was Heathfield School's team, who beat Cockerton 5-4 on penalties in the final.
Team captain Adam Hassan received the winners' trophy from Darlington Mayor Isobel Hartley.
