YOUNG performers are in the spotlight at Bishop Auckland Town Hall this week with the musical Once On This Island.
Spennymoor Youth Theatre Group's production opens on Wednesday for a four-night run, although Saturday's show is already sold out.
Charlene Fairish stars in the story of two star-crossed lovers tested by the gods of a mythical Caribbean island.
Insurance and pensions company Pearl gave the production a £500 boost with a grant towards the £4,500 cost of a new laptop computer to help with set design and stage lighting.
It was given to Pearl customer Sheila Purvis, who fundraises for the group as well as chaperoning youngsters and helping with front of house and rehearsals.
Performances start at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £5, contact Ann Sproat on (01325) 316917. The group is also seeking to recruit new members.
