A CAR park was turned into one big easel as aspiring pavement artists joined a race to get to the world famous Tate Art Gallery.
About 50 youngsters chalked a kaleidoscope of pictures on the ground, in the local heat of a national competition.
The winners of the contest held at South Bank, Teesside, had their work photographed, to be assessed in regional finals, to be judged in Newcastle.
Whoever comes out on top there, will have a photograph of their work, displayed at London's Tate Gallery.
The competition is organised by the Muscular Dystrophy charity, and the Teesside heat took shape in the Baptist Church car park, as part of the South Bank Churches Family Action Family Festival.
