YOUNGSTERS are celebrating after gaining a sporting award.
The Sportsmark Gold Award marks the quality of the physical education and sports programme, Blakeston Community School, Stockton, has organised.
All pupils have an increase in curriculum time, which allows a wider and broader option of activities offered.
All pupils take GCSE physical education and will receive numerous accreditations throughout the year.
New activities have been introduced, such as orienteering, girls' rugby, boys' hockey, canoeing and sailing.
From next year, junior sports leader and Duke of Edinburgh Awards will be available to students.
Karen Campbell, head of PE at the school said:"I am delighted that Sport England has recognised our achievements in providing a progressive, well-balanced physical education programme and extending it to excellence in sporting provision."
