THE tragic case of Stacey Laight has again highlighted the scourge of drug dealers across the region.
The Northern Echo is preparing to help launch a campaign to rid the streets of dealers.
We have joined forces with Durham Agency Against Crime to launch a campaign called Rat on a Rat, which will target towns in County Durham.
Posters and beer mats, with a special hotline, will be produced as part of a campaign to encourage people to help bring drug dealers to justice.
The first town to be targeted will be Chester-le-Street, with the campaign being launched on June 4.
Chief Inspector Laz Szomoru, of Durham Agency Against Crime, said: "This is a sad case that emphasises how drug dealers ruin lives.
"The agency is working very closely with local police, Crimestoppers and is backed by The Northern Echo, to target drugs dealers in County Durham."
