A 22-YEAR-old has put the gloss on his painting and decorating career by starting his own business.

Since leaving school, Carl Clyne had dreamed of running his own business.

Now, with help from the Hartlepool branch of InBiz, he has successfully launched CK Decor in the town's Holt Street.

He heeded the advice of business advisor Jane Franklin to get more qualifications, enrolling for a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) level three in business at Hartlepool College of Education.

Mr Clyne, who joined InBiz as part of the Government's New Deal, said: "The thing about working for someone else is that you do not have any control if the work runs dry and you are laid off. At least now I can plan."

Terry Owens, chief executive of InBiz, said: "Carl is an excellent example of how New Deal can open doors of opportunity to people wanting a new direction and who are willing to work hard to make their dreams a reality."
