AN hotelier rubbed shoulders with royalty at lunch.
George Tinsley, who owns the Pinchinthorpe Hall Country House Hotel, near Guisborough, was invited to a lunch at Thealby Hall, near Scunthorpe, where he was entertained by the Duchess of Gloucester.
Mr Tinsley was among fundraisers from throughout the north of England being recognised for their support for The Children's Society. Pinchinthorpe Hall has played host to the charity on several occasions, helping it to raise hundreds of pounds.
It took advantage of the Hall's ten acres of gardens, currently being restored to their original Georgian splendour, to stage an Open Garden event. The society also held a very popular Burns Night Supper.
The Duchess of Gloucester, who is Royal President of The Children's Society, chose the home of Lady Sheffield, president of the Scunthorpe fundraising committee, to congratulate the fundraisers for generating more than £1,000 between them.
Mr Tinsley said: "It was a surprise and an honour to be invited to the event."
