POLICE are hunting a thug who attacked a 27-year-old woman as she walked home after a night out.
The woman was attacked from behind as she walked along a footpath running from Front Street to Rose Avenue in Whickham, Gateshead, on Monday night.
She was taken to Newcastle General Hospital following the attack, which happened between 10pm and 11.30pm, and was said to be suffering from shock.
Her attacker is described as 35 to 40 years old, 5ft 10in, of medium build with gelled-back short brown hair.
He was wearing blue jeans, a bright yellow, long-sleeved shirt and had a local accent.
