A ROAD repair scheme in an east Cleveland town is to get a makeover because of complaints from local people.
Rosecroft Lane, in Loftus, links the town's secondary school to the town centre and has been closed since flooding caused a landslip last November.
The road has now been fully repaired but many people in the town are unhappy that the finished scheme was left as a stone bank.
Loftus councillor David Walsh intervened and the council has now agreed to convert the stone cover of the bank into grass to make it more in keeping with the surroundings.
Dr Joan Rees, director of development at Redcar and Cleveland Borough Council, said the work would probably be carried out during the summer holidays to cause minimum inconvenience to motorists in Loftus and the nearby village of Liverton Mines.
Coun Walsh said: "I am pleased. The road repair was a difficult job and has been finished well, but we do not want to lose any green space in what is a quiet and rather rural part of the town. This new scheme will meet that demand, and I give full marks to our engineers for their renewed efforts."
