HORDES of music fans will descend on one of the region's most unusual concert venues this weekend.

Work to create a huge stage in the 9,000-acre Dalby Forest, near Pickering, North Yorkshire, is almost complete - and the beauty spot will play host to The Levellers tomorrow night and Jools Holland on Saturday.

The events, to be staged in the Adderstone area of the forest, are helping to mark the 80th anniversary of the Forestry Commission's first plantings on the North York Moors.

Forester Peter Green said: "We are looking forward to a fantastic weekend. It is the first time we've organised concerts in the North Riding Forest Park and all the hard work will be worth it once the music starts."
