MARTIAL arts experts from around the world will descend on Peterlee, County Durham, for a Capoeira festival this weekend.
The trendy sport of Capoeira combines dance, music and acrobatics and first arrived in Britain in the early 1990s.
Students from across the country will meet at East Durham and Houghall Community College to receive training from some of the world's best Capoeira teachers.
Capoeira is now used in many big-budget movie scenes.
Instructor Jimi McAvoy said: "The sport is excellent for the body, increasing your strength, stability and mental awareness.
"It is becoming increasingly popular throughout the world. The festival has been designed to allow those already learning the art to meet up and learn from some of the world's best and share with one another their passion for Capoeira."
The festival takes place all weekend and anyone interested in going along can phone Mr McAvoy on 0191-518 2000.
