MORE North Yorkshire businesses than ever are likely to be exporting in the next few years, thanks to the success of a European-funded initiative.
So far, more than 175 firms have shown a commitment to exporting by joining a series of initiatives run by the York and North Yorkshire Export Forum as part of a campaign backed by £600,000 of European Commission funding.
More than 200 delegates attended a series of workshops at venues throughout the county, including Richmond, Thirsk, Harrogate and Scarborough.
Export forum spokesman Roland Harris, chief executive of York and North Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce, said: "We have been heartened by interest in the exporting campaign, which has exceeded our targets, and feel confident that the county will soon have many new businesses exporting their products."
