THE potential perils of barbecue cooking are to be highlighted in a council roadshow.
Hambleton District Council's environmental health officer Kevin Hardisty will be donning his chef's hat and showing where the dangers in outdoor cooking lie.
He will be at the roadshow, on market days in Easingwold, Thirsk, Bedale, Stokesley and Northallerton next week, National Food Safety Week.
Toddler groups, nurseries, schools and colleges will also get information on the safety aspects of food production.
Environmental health spokesman Councillor Ernest Phillips said: "We hope to drive home the importance of food safety, especially around the barbecue and with young children. We want to show how to keep food safe from the time that it is bought to the time that it is eaten."
The campaign will focus on issues including keeping raw and cooked foods apart, controlling temperatures and keeping kitchens clean.
