THE Beckett Football League is on the look-out for a new sponsor after Camerons Brewery reached the end of its two-year deal.

Their withdrawal of sponsorship was announced by league secretary Keith Sales at last week's well-supported annual meeting at the Royal British Legion Club, Kirkbymoorside.

Westlers United withdrew their membership from the second division just five minutes before the meeting started, but Amotherby and Swinton joined the league after a lapse of several seasons.

The first division will again have ten teams next season, with Thornton le Dale and Coxwold relegated and Ampleforth and Old Malton Thirds promoted. The second division will also have ten teams.

Aislaby United won the Gazette and Herald Shield for the first division sportsmanship award voted on by all the other teams in the division, while Old Red House won the second division award.

The John Lambert Cup, awarded annually to the club with the least cautions and/or sending off cases, couldn't be presented at the meeting as the league hadn't received the figures from the North Riding County FA.

But they have now been received and Aislaby United and Old Red House will share the cup for six months each as both had no cautions or red cards recorded against them.

Sinnington had just one caution and all three teams can be very proud of their achievement.
