Bass North Cleveland League - There was an incredible result in division two when Cowpen Bewley were all out for 32 but then dismissed Skelton Castle for 25.

Stephen Clapp claimed seven wickets for 16 runs to help send Cowpen Bewley back to the pavilion in double quick time before Skelton Castle faired even worse. Ian Carr claimed six wickets for five runs and Whitfield took three for five.

Cowpen Bewley A performed much better at Norton where they totalled 186. The majority of the runs came from Humphries with 76 and Farley (73) while for Norton, Watson returned five for 27. Responding Norton gained a draw when they finished with 91 for eight following 41 overs. Gary Peacock claimed four wickets for 52 runs in 21 overs, eight of them maidens.

Loftus B totalled 175 for eight including 73 by Dave Bowman at home to Normanby Parklands B who were 118 for three from 27.5 overs when the match was abandoned because of rain.

Dormanstown had 91 runs in hand at Gillens Sports. The visitors reached 177 for eight including 73 by Lloyd while for Gillens Sports Henry took four for 57 and Dixon three for 39. Mitchell top performed with ball for Dormanstown capturing six wickets for 41 runs.

In division one the Ladle bowled out Brotton in 28.4 overs for only 83 runs. Graham Sutherland took three for 25 in nine overs and Damian Brown had four for 18 from seven overs. No fewer than 56 of the Brotton total of 83 came from Tim Whitwell, who hit three sixes and four boundaries.

The Ladle were made to work hard for their runs and conceded six wickets in 34.4 overs before winning. They were indebted to Mark Pacitto who opened the innings and was till there at the end unbeaten at 32. Phil Shaw bowled a good end for Brotton taking three for 21 in ten overs, four of which were maidens.

After making the formidable total of 219 for two before declaring after 41 overs, Staithes had Greatham Paragonians on 38 for one when the game was abandoned because of rain. Mark Allen was unbeaten on 103 for Staithes, hitting three sixes and eight boundaries and sharing a second wicket partnership of 137 with David Bowes whose 63 included three sixes and six boundaries.

Normanby Parklands A defeated New Marske by eight wickets. Batting first the visitors reached 165 for nine despite Frewin taking a hat-trick with figures of five for 39. Payne (30) and Taggert (42) were both in good form for New Marske. Replying Normanby Parklands A were given a good send off by opener Bennison (40) and Ramzan (57no) and later Newton added a valuable unbeaten 13.

Loftus had four wickets in hand of Ormesby Hall who they restricted to 135. Smith carried his bat for 32 and for Loftus Whitwell bowled well claiming eight wickets for 55 runs.

Responding Loftus won when opener Pearson batted throughout for 42 not out, Barrett added 36, Dobson 35 and Whitfield 37 not out.

After totalling 180 for eight which included 47 by Hughes and 33 from Grosvenor, Dormans had Skelton Castle A on 127 for three when the game was abandoned because of the weather. Hogarth top performed scoring 36 for Skelton Castle A.

Fosters Northumberland Tyneside League Under-18s

Sacriston and Greenside ended with identical scores. Andrew Dixon (31) and Martin Hubber (18) scored most of the runs when Sacriston reached 82 for four before John Colledge (25) and Michael Cairns (31) led Greenside to 82 for three. Two of the three wickets to fall were taken by Richard Hilton at a cost of 24 runs.

Crookhall had 13 runs in hand of Blaydon. Batting first they ended on 94 for four and no fewer than 54 of the runs were credited to David Richardson. Paul Johnson and Richardson then took two wickets each sharing ten overs when Blaydon were pegged to 81 for seven.

Mark Stoneman (50no) and Ryan McVittie (45no) enabled Burnopfield to win by ten wickets at home to Ryton. The visitors ended with a respectable 105 for seven which included 33 by Johnson and for Burnopfield Lee Stoneman returned three for 22 and Richard Deacon three for 15.

Consett defeated Swalwell by 38 runs. Andrew Waters top scored with 31 in the Consett total of 106 for five and although Ian Cox scored 21 Swalwell were all out for 68 as Ian Stuart claimed three wickets for 16 runs in five overs.

Gregg Halliday and Mark Ramshaw both scored 31 and Paul Charlton took four for four when Lanchester reached a formidable total of 149 for seven at home to Shotley Bridge who responded with 114 for four which included 38 by Paul Charlton and 54 by his brother Mark.

Chris Davidson with 52 not out starred when Whickham totalled 127 for three before restricting Lintz to 91 for eight. Paul Lumley was the top contributor with 43.

Khan (70no) and Aaron Leathley with an undefeated 59 were both in outstanding form helping Annfield Plain to a match-winning 147 for none at Chopwell, who replied with 90 for six.

Federation Special Durham Senior League Under-15

Despite playing through rain Whitburn were happy at their result against Hetton Lyons who they sent back to the pavilion with 35 runs on the bpard. Eight bowlers were used in the attack and the most successful was Ian Walker, who claimed two wickets for one run.

Batting first Whitburn realised 125 for three with contributions of 35 by Matthew Woolston, 28 from Ian Elliott and 20 by Andrew Gilbert.

James Gill turned in a five-star performance for South Shields who had eight wickets to spare over Burnmoor. The youngster took six wickets for 18 runs in five overs and Burnmoor were all out for 42 in 11.4 overs. Paul Craig carried his bat for 27 in the South Shields innings.

Chris Simpson led Boldon to a six wickets victory against Sunderland carrying his bat for 56 in a total of 100 for four. Batting first Sunderland ended with 99 for seven which included a top scoring 28 by Mills and for Boldon Steve Lamb captured three wickets for 18 runs.
