TWO women have been charged with drugs offences following an investigation into the death of a 15-year-old schoolgirl.

Stacey Laight, from Horden, east Durham, died in the University Hospital of Hartlepool in May, after a night out in the town with friends.

She is thought to have taken a cocktail of Ecstasy, alcohol and other drugs.

On Monday, a 27-year-old woman from Peterlee, County Durham, was charged with attempting to supply a controlled drug and will appear at Easington Magistrates' Court on Friday.

A 37-year-old woman, also from Peterlee, was charged yesterday with supplying a controlled drug. She will appear before magistrates next Friday.

A 25-year-old man, from Horden, who was arrested and interviewed in connection with Stacey's death, remains on police bail.

The results of toxicology tests to establish the cause of Stacey's death are expected in the next few weeks.
