ASPIRING thespians in east Cleveland are being invited to audition for a winter pantomime.

Guisborough Pantomime Group is in the process of holding auditions for its 2002 production of Sleeping Beauty. The latest round of auditions take place at the Church Hall, in Guisborough, on Sunday, at 2pm, and anyone who is interested is invited to audition.

MUSHROOM MISSION: People are invited to learn about the fungi, mushrooms and toadstools that grow in local woodlands and fields on a guided walk from Lingfield Farm Countryside Centre, Mount Pleasant Way, Coulby Newham, on Sunday at 2pm. Tom Kirby, will lead the walk and help identify the fungi and explain their characteristics. Walkers will be invited back to the centre for a mushroom fry-up. Sponsored jail: The charity Against Bowel Cancer and Radio Cleveland are holding sponsored jail 'em and bail 'em at the Middleton Grange Shopping Centre, Hartlepool, on Saturday, September 29. Mayor's service: The Mayor of Redcar and Cleveland, Councillor Vilma Collins, will be holding the traditional mayor's Sunday Service at St Alban's RC Church, Yew Tree Avenue, Redcar. The Mayor's Chaplain, Father William Ryan and the Bishop of Middlesbrough, the Right Reverend John Crowley, will officiate at the 11am service.

Pub quiz: The Fairfield Hotel, Fairfield Road, Stockton is holding a quiz night, on Wednesday, from 8.30pm. Proceeds will go to the Teesside Hospice and for research into Cystic Fibrosis.
