THREE shops are to be built on the site of a former supermarket in Darlington.
The Kwik Save store, in Yarm Road, was demolished by owners Grantchester Properties (Darlington) after the store ceased trading in August. The developers want to build three smaller shops on the site.
A Darlington Borough Council spokeswoman said the company had decided it was easier to build new shops rather than convert the old building.
She said that Kwik Save would be able to take up one of the new units if the company wanted.
