North Yorkshire Tory MPs Anne McIntosh and John Greenway have been appointed to the Conservative front bench by the new party leader Iain Duncan Smith.
Both will serve under Shadow Culture Secretary Tim Yeo as junior members of his team.
Miss McIntosh, MP for Vale of York, is on the front bench for the first time to speak on broadcasting matters.
Mr Greenway, MP for Ryedale, will continue in his position as shadow sports and tourism minister.
Miss McIntosh said: ''I am pleased to get the broadcasting brief, where there is a lot of hard work ahead with the Government putting forward its Communications Bill.'
