POLICE investigating the suspicious death of a former teacher have visited a pub she frequented.

Officers from Redcar police spent Thursday evening mingling with regulars at the Crown and Anchor pub, in Redcar, east Cleveland.

Debra McNicholas, above, whose body was found on Redcar beach on Sunday morning, often went there on Thursdays for karaoke night.

Police were hoping to obtain clues on the 44-year-old mother-of-four's movements after leaving her Redcar home at 11pm on Saturday. She was found drowned and with injuries consistent with an assault or fall.

Detective Inspector Gordon Lang said: "The licensee and regulars of the pub were very helpful. Most recognised Debra and knew her quite well, but we are still keen to speak to anyone who can give us information on her whereabouts on the evening of September 15."
