WALKING enthusiasts can enjoy a day by the sea at the weekend.
The eight-mile walk along the coastal path from Roker Pier to South Shields Pier will include free transport back to the departure point.
It will take place on Sunday, September 30 and will bring to an end a summer programme of countryside and conservation events and activities run by Sunderland City Council.
Andrew Berwick, countryside officer, said: "This year we have had everything from the Penshaw Carnival and weekly activities in Mowbray Park to countryside skills training in meadow management. We will continue to organise such events throughout the year."
