The Mayor of Durham, George Cowper, received a cheque for £250 for the Durham Centre for People with Learning Difficulties and the Durham and Chester-le-Street Alzheimer's Society, yesterday.
The money was provided by housing association, Home Housing, which has improved housing stock in the Sherburn Road estate area of Durham City.
