MAIMED Tracey Bourn has told how a spurned lesbian attacked her in a nightclub, leaving her scarred for life.

The 20-year-old said jealous Shelly Thompson smashed a bottle on her forehead before plunging the glass into her cheek.

Ms Bourn needed almost 60 stitches after the attack in a North-East nightclub, in March.

Ms Bourn told how the attack had destroyed her life and turned her from a bubbly party girl into a virtual recluse.

She said: "When I go out I feel like a freak and everyone's looking at me. I have to get my brother to go everywhere with me because I'm so scared.

"This scar is going to be with me for the rest of my life. Every time I look in the mirror it's there staring back at me, reminding me what she did."

Ms Bourn bumped into Thompson in the toilets of the Powerhouse 2 club, near the Telewest Arena, in Newcastle, months after they had first met.

"I wanted to let bygones be bygones and asked if we could be friends," said Ms Bourn.

"She said she didn't want to talk to me and she picked up a glass or a bottle and broke it on my forehead, then slashed my face with it."

Thompson, of Coatsworth Road, Gateshead, was convicted of actual bodily harm with intent at Newcastle Crown Court and jailed for four years.

Judge Tony Lancaster told her: "Miss Bourn will be permanently scarred, and you appreciate how psychologically devastating that can be."

However, Ms Bourn said: "A four-year sentence is not enough. I hoped that she would get more for what she did to me."
