Northallerton Swimming Club travelled to Eston Leisure Centre to compete with swimmers from Eston, Bedale, Stokesley, Saltburn, Marske and Guisborough in the Moors League annual individual gala and brought home 35 medals from the 40 events.

That haul included six gold, two silver and nine bronze while 19 swimmers posted new personal best times in at least one event.

Top performers of the day were Zara Dee Hannay who broke the Moors league record in the nine-year-old 25m butterfly with a time of 20.19 and Jessica Noone who won both her events, the 25m freestyle and 25m butterfly for ten-year-old girls.

Other gold medalists were Adele Carmichael in the girls 13-14-year 59m butterfly, Gareth Waton in the boys 13-14 50mm breaststroke, and Ewan Lister in the boys ten-years 25m breaststroke.

Adele Carmichael also picked up a silver medal in the 50m freestyle and Ralph Stokeld a silver in the boys 11-12 50m breaststroke while Ben Lister, Graham Caygill, Laura Caygill, Emily Shaw (2), Adam Lister, Oliver Wray, Gareth Waton and Zara Dee Hannay also collected bronze medals.

Club coach Barbara Blades was a proud women after the event, saying: "I am delighted that the swimmers hard work at training sessions during recent months is beginning to really bear fruit in the form of individual medals and much improved results across all age groups and strokes at team galas.

"We have some excellent swimmers and team spirit has never been better."

Northallerton swimming club is based at Hambleton Leisure Centre and completes in both the Moors League and North Yorkshire League as well as entering individual swimmers and teams in all grades of gala throughout the North-East of England.
