MORE people in the region are giving up smoking than ever before, according to North-East health bosses.
Last year, more than 10,000 smokers gave up after enrolling in a special smoking cessation programme.
Yesterday, 150 health professionals involved in smoking reduction programmes attended a conference at the International Centre for Life, in Newcastle, to consider how to build on their achievements
