MIDDLESBROUGH new-boy Franck Queudrue last night warned the Premiership - 'there's plenty more to come'.

The left-back, who scored his first goal for Boro on his home debut against Sunderland on Monday night, has made an immediate impact on Steve McClaren's men.

After a shaky opening at Charlton nearly two weeks ago, Queudrue has grown in stature and he has already won over the Riverside supporters.

But the 23-year-old, on loan until the end of the season from French side RC Lens, believes he has still to show his best form.

"I would like to think that after playing my first two games for Middlesbrough I'm already adapting to the pace," said the French B international.

"It would be nice for me to play even better than I have been because I'm confident there's still more to come from me."

Since Queudrue arrived on Teesside Boro are yet to concede a goal, and he is hoping for his third clean sheet against Tottenham tomorrow.

And the Parisien indicated that he is happy with the way he has taken to life in English football, despite finding it played at a quicker pace.

"I like life in the Premiership," said Queudrue. "It is a lot different to the way we play in the French league.

"I am very lucky with the way I have started at Middlesbrough, with a goal, and it was important for us to win against Sunderland.

"We knew before that match we needed to get a good result and we managed to do that.

"Now we have to make sure we keep up that sort of play on Saturday at Tottenham.

"The public has been fantastic since I came here and I have been very impressed with the whole club."

Queudrue is also confident that it will not be too long before he is part of a Boro team that occupies a position in the top half.

The powerful defender believes McClaren will not lead his men into the club's second relegation battle in a row.

"We have very good players at Middlesbrough," said Queudrue, who could make the switch to the North-East permanent at the end of the season.

"I'm sure that it will not be long before we are higher up the table.

"The position in the Premiership we are in is not that good and I don't think it shows just the type of players we have here.

"When I came to Middlesbrough I knew that they had good players and I don't think we will be low down for very much longer."

Meanwhile, Leicester City boss Dave Bassett has been linked with a £500,000 move for out-of-favour Boro striker Brian Deane.

The 33-year-old was a target of his former club Sheffield United and Barnsley in the summer, but neither could afford his wages.

However, it is understood that Bassett, who worked with Deane at Bramall Lane, sees the former England international as the man to help the Foxes climb off the foot of the Premiership.

McClaren is determined to trim his squad and he it is also thought he is close to receiving £500,000 from Crystal Palace for defender Steve Vickers. Paul Okon, Noel Whelan and Phil Stamp are also available
