Willington League - Willington Cottles took the last two points to keep the visiting Willington Brewer's Droop without a win this season.

The home side only managed singles points from Joe Bone and Andrew Richardson, whilst the Brewer's looked to on their way to their first win when Freddy Williamson, Mark Watkin, Alan Richardson and Davey Gallagher took singles points. Cottles then took the doubles at 2-1 and the team game to leave them one short of victory. The captain's game went to Cottles when Ian Cowan beat Alan Richardson.

The only maximum of the week came from Gary Moffatt of Hunwick Quarry Burn.

The Prospect Club lead the table by eight points from the unbeaten Willington Black Horse Inn, who have a match in hand, and are two ahead of third placed, Willington Club.

Tow Law Bass

Tow Law Cattle Mart pulled off their best win of the season when they only dropped four points to the visiting Esh Stag's Head. Things started badly for the Mart when they went two down by losing both the trebles. However from there they took singles points through Malcolm Boughey, Bob McFadden, Colin Boughey and Mike Henry with Alan Maughan and Brian Kershaw scoring for the Stag's. The Mart completed their victory when they took all three doubles points to move three points behind the joint leaders, Tow Law New Market A and Newhouse Club.

The Atkinson brothers were in fine form for the New Market A with Kenneth hitting two 180s and Andrew three 140s. Keith Robson made a 160 start and hit two 140s for the Stag's Head, whilst Les Sanders and Colin Boughey hit 140 each for the Cattle Mart.

Crook Ladies League

Ithe top of the table clash to leading Crook Coach and Horses retained their unbeaten record by the narrowest of margins with an odd point victory at Tow Law New Market B, who remain in second place 38 points adrift but 3 points ahead of Crook Queen's Head.

The Coach and Horses raced away into a big lead when they only lost one of the six singles. They reached a winning score when they took one of the three doubles but the New Market B kept the result tight when they won the doubles points team game.

Howden Sunnydene Lodge were able to celebrate in style after their visit to Crook Royal Sun for they had just won their first match since returning to the league. At the top of the table Crook Golden Fleece hold a ten point lead but things are tight after that. Second placed Crook Coach and Horses hold a one point advantage over Crook Royal Sun, Bar 56 and the White Swan.
