LOCAL radio stars from TFM will join forces with the Tidy Britain group in Stockton this week for the launch of a youth litter campaign.

The launch will take place during a litter roadshow entitled "Are you doing your bit?" which is organised by Stockton Borough Council, the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and Tidy Britain.

The campaign is supported by pop bands, including Atomic Kitten, Hear'Say and S Club 7, in a drive to stop young people dropping litter.

The campaign for the North-East is launched in Norton, near Stockton, tomorrow morning with the roadshow, hosted by Gregg Upwards, Producer Al and Linderella from TFM.

Pupils from secondary schools across Stockton will attend, with an environmentally-themed bus on hand from Defra to highlight and explain a host of green issues.

Geoff Field, Stockton council's cabinet member for environment, said: "We are already working hard to ensure that the no messing message gets across to all our residents, young and old alike.

"This is an ideal platform to involve young people in our campaign to keep our streets clean and we hope it will ensure that everyone does their bit."

Gregg Upwards, TFM's breakfast presenter, said: "It is always great to take part in events involving young people, especially those that will help keep the region tidy."
