STAFF at a Bishop Auckland travel agents are launching an appeal which could brighten up Christmas for young hospital patients.
The Travelcare branch in the Co-op's Newgate Street store is collecting a suitcase full of toys and gifts for the children's ward at Bishop Auckland General Hospital.
Manager Karen Dent is counting on other businesses to support the appeal.
She said: "We are asking customers and members of the local community to help us spread a bit of cheer this Christmas.
"The toys or gifts they donate will go to a deserving local child who may be sick or less fortunate than other children."
All 350 branches of Travelcare, which is part of the Co-operative Group and is the UK's largest independent travel agent, are collecting presents in their areas.
Gifts should be unwrapped so they can be given to children of the appropriate age. Contact the branch on (01388) 450821 for details.
