TEENAGER Andrew Simpson dreams of forging a career as a special effects wizard in the film industry - and he's certainly going the right way about it.

For he has transformed his back garden into a Jurassic Park fun ride, a project that has taken him two years to complete.

Andrew, 17, planned, designed and built the ride, which is based on the film by his favourite director, Steven Spielberg.

It consists of a boat trip down a specially-created stream, through a 13ft high Jurassic Park gate and into a light and sound show.

Andrew, a student at York Sixth Form College, is no stranger to ambitious projects. He created a museum in the garden when he was 13 and followed that up with a cinema.

The theme ride is his biggest scheme yet but for Andrew it was a labour of love as he enjoyed the film so much.

"The film came out in 1994 and I came up with the idea two years ago. I always have these ideas in my head and I love using my imagination," he said.

His parents raised no objection to the scheme and even his neighbours gave their blessing to the imposing structure.

His mother, Linda, said: "I'm not just saying it because I'm biased, but it is fantastic."
