BUD is affectionately known as the "bionic dog" after a road accident left him with a wired jaw.

Now the two-year-old border collie is fully recovered from his injuries and is waiting at the Ramshaw Rescue Centre, near Bishop Auckland, for a new home.

Kate Wilson, from the centre, said: "He was taken to a vets after he was run over and they spent a lot of time trying to get him well.

"We think the owner has heard what has happened and been too frightened to come forward because of the vet's fees, but they have now been taken care of.''

She described Bud as a happy dog who would fit in with any family situation.

"I think he will adapt very easily. He has been no trouble at all even after what he has gone through. He is very laid- back,'' she said.
