AS is the norm this season, the York City supporters called for the end of Terry Dolan's stint as the Bootham Crescent manager during Darlington's 3-1 win on Saturday.

For the majority of the game the travelling contingent were more occupied with singing abusive songs about former striker Barry Conlon than getting behind their own team.

But midway through the second half the York fans, dismayed with their team's poor showing, made loud shouts of 'Dolan Out.'

However, the man himself had a more positive view on the game: "Alan Fettis had nothing to do, and neither did their goalkeeper, but we created far more chances than Darlington did," said Dolan.

"With all the pressure that we did have, we didn't work their goalkeeper enough. We got in to great positions umpteen times.

"After the first 20 minutes we should have been three-up, and two minutes later we're two-down because of defensive errors. Barry didn't have to work for the goals did he? They were put on a plate for him.

"The penalty was a crucial miss because that would have made it 2-1 at half-time and then it's anyone's game.

"But by then we should've been 3-0 anyway, but that's just football."

His opposing manager, Tommy Taylor, admitted his team didn't play as well as they can, and was annoyed they didn't record a third consecutive Feethams clean sheet.

"I'm very disappointed we let a goal in," admitted Taylor.

"Gary won tackles on the floor and there's nobody around him to pick the second ball up. They just thought Gary was there to win the ball and clear it - that doesn't happen.

"You need that cushion, they got one goal with about four minutes to go and if they got another one there's panic on and I don't want that. I want it solid all the way though."

Quakers weren't so solid when Paul Heckingbottom stumbled as he attempted a header back to Andy Collett.

The keeper conceded a penalty which was put well-wide of goal by York's Chris Brass and Taylor was hardly sympathetic in his post-match analysis.

He said: "The keeper said he never touched him, as soon as the ball has gone past he's fell over because he's kicked it too far in front and he's never going to reach it.

"The linesman didn't give it, and it's just a pity that we've had another penalty given against us. "It was a great penalty though, he hit it about 20 yards wide - great penalty!"
