Lanchester King's Head landed the Captain's League title by a single point with Rob Day being the chief point scorer with 11 of the 15 accrued by the team. In his absence Graeme Thompson, Ronnie Minto and Tom Bailey contributed points.

The Prospect Club jumped up to second place in the table after they only dropped one point to the visiting Willington Brewer's Droop A, who had Andrew Hutchinson as their only winner. The home winners were Shaun Blyth, Adrian Peacock, Phil Blyth and Cecil Atkinson.

However Hunwick Club stayed one point in the lead at the top following their odd point win at Sunnybrow Brown Trout whilst Hunwick Quarry Burn are one pont behind the Prospect.

Crook League

Crook Belle Vue, the First Division leaders, slipped to their second consecutive defeat when they went down in the deciding doubles at Crook Mill House. The home side had singles wins from John Winning, Rob Bannister and Ian Bibby, whilst the Club replied with points from Jack Walker, Roy Hoggarth and Dave Hakin. In the deciding doubles the Mill's Rob Bannister and Ian Bibby beat Dave Hakin and Ivor Phillipson.

Despite this reversal Crook Belle Vue are eight points ahead of crook Travellers Rest B, who have a match in hand. Crook Olde Horse Shoe A are a point behind the Travellers. Crook Spitfire Club lead the Second Division by ten points with Crook White Swan one ahead of Crook Jelly's Bar.

After a 100 per cent success through the first half of the season, John Howarth of Crook Queen's Head A lost his first match when Derek Wood of Crook Travellers Rest S beat him.

Sunnybrow Brown Trout moved one point clear at the top of the table following their good home win over Willington Burn. The Trout had singles wins from Carol Hawkins, Derek Brazier and Chris Brown, whilst the visitors replied through Malcolm Campbell and Lyndon Taylor. The two doubles both fell to the Trout when John Whitfield with Derek Brazier and Ronnie Bowes with John Latcham won. To complete a good victory for the Trout, new landlord, Chris Brown beat Shaun Pardew in the captain's game.

Willington Club and the Prospect Club share the second place one behind the Brown Trout and two ahead of the Black Horse Tavern.

The footballers had singles wins from Alan Morton, Tom Findlay and Ray Lugsden whilst the visitors replied with wins from Ken Liddle, Colin Rowland and Alan Todd. The home side clinched their win when they took the first two of three doubles games.

Despite the defeat Newhouse Club still hold an eight point lead over Esh Football Club, who are one point ahead of Esh Stag's Head.
