A STALWART of the north Durham voluntary scene is to be rewarded after nearly four decades work.
WRVS volunteer Jennie Tarn, from Chester-le-Street, has already received her long service medal for 15 years and a clasp for a further 12 years.
On Friday, she will be presented with another clasp at a special ceremony at Chester-le-Street Civic Centre for 12 more years.
Mrs Tarn is a WRVS volunteer in the charity's tea bar at the town's general hospital.
Kevan Jones will present her with the clasp. He said: "WRVS volunteers in County Durham touch the lives of many people every year, and Jennie has made a huge contribution to this."
