A HOUSE will not be built on a former railway line which is part of a proposed cycle path, planners have decided.
Members of Ripon area planning committee of Harrogate Borough Council turned down a plea to build a home on the long-closed former Harrogate to Pateley Bridge railway line, at Dacre Banks, near Pateley Bridge.
They said it would obstruct the proposed Nidderdale cycle path, and also threaten an attractive area of woodland.
