PEOPLE in the North-East have been urged to do their bit to help improve the environment.
Speaking at a meeting of the National Clean Air Society (NCAS) in Darlington, chairman Jeff Gyllenspetz said: "One of our biggest challenges is to get the message across to the people so they know what they can do about the environment.
"There is no point in governments or groups like us making decisions if people on the street don't realise how important their role is in protecting the environment."
Also at the meeting of the Northern division of NCAS, Keith Atkinson was awarded an honorary membership of the group for his work in Darlington to improve the environment.
