AN adult education centre is urging people in Teesdale to make a fresh start this year by signing up to a series of free courses in maths, English and computer skills.

The LEAP centre, in Galgate, Barnard Castle, offers a range of courses for all levels of ability, as well as running guidance and one-to-one tuition for dyslexic students.

The centre runs courses on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

English, maths and information technology courses are also held at Middleton-in-Teesdale Community School on Tuesdays, and a computer-training course takes place at Cockfield Village Hall on Mondays.

Jenny Lee, of the LEAP Adult Education Centre, said: "Equality of opportunity is one of our main priorities and no one will be discriminated against on the grounds of their gender, race, colour, creed, culture, age, sexual orientation or disability."
