TALENTED pool player Paul Armstrong is preparing for trials to represent his country.
Paul, who lives in Queensway, Shildon, is one of three Durham County players who will travel to the Vauxhall holiday camp, in Great Yarmouth, in March to compete against players from all over the country.
Eight people out of 64 will be chosen to play for England, and Paul is remaining optimistic.
He said: "I qualified last year after coming top in the North-East but did not do anything. This year I have got high hopes.''
Paul, who is manager at Phil Hedley Tyres, in Shildon, plays for Durham County as well as in the Super League for his home town and the Jubilee pub.
He does not practise as much as he used to but manages to play pool at work during lunch times.
He said: "I think I am playing better this year despite finishing only fifth in the North-East.''
