THE jury considering the case of a woman accused of trying to steal a pensioner's bag was discharged last night.
Elizabeth Ness, 35, of Emerald Street, Saltburn, east Cleveland, was accused of attempted robbery. She denied the charge and her trial was held at Teesside Crown Court this week.
The jury retired to consider its verdict at 12.15pm yesterday.
They returned to court at 3.40pm and told Recorder Peter Bullock it was unlikely they would be able to deliver a verdict on which ten of them agreed.
Recorder Peter Bullock then discharged the jury from further deliberation.
Recorder Bullock gave the prosecution two weeks to notify the court about whether there would be a retrial
