AN INQUEST has been opened into the death of a man who was in a car which collided with a vehicle driven by a 16-year-old.
Teesside Deputy Coroner Gordon Hetherington heard that 22-year-old student Philip Taylor, of Bilsdale Road, Longlands, Middlesbrough, died in Middlesbrough General Hospital the day after the incident, which happened at the junction of Breckon Hill Road and Douglas Street, Middlesbrough, last November.
Home Office pathologist Dr Peter Cooper said Mr Taylor died from multiple injuries, consistent with being involved in a car accident.
Detective Constable Colin Evans, of Middlesbrough CID, told the inquest that a 16-year-old youth had appeared before Teesside Magistrates' Court on January 7 this year when he was committed to Teesside Crown Court for trial, charged with unlawful killing and causing death by dangerous driving.
The inquest was adjourned to await the outcome of crown court proceedings
