COUNCIL wardens have been called in to deal with a rat infestation at a Darlington school.
Pest control wardens were contacted by teachers at Eastbourne Comprehensive School after rats were seen around the school buildings.
Although the rodents have all been killed, one is believed to have died in an air duct at the school and a search is being made to find it.
The wardens will return to the school next week to discuss how to prevent the problem reoccurring.
A council spokeswoman said: "They have had some rats at the school. It is not unusual with old buildings like those at Eastbourne.
"The school contacted the council at the end of last week and we responded immediately, as we always do with schools.
"Wardens will be returning at the beginning of next week and will work with the school to solve the problem.
