SCIENCE fiction fans are snapping up tickets for a lecture by Star Wars animator Phil Tippet.

Forbidden City, in the Dundas Arcade, Middlesbrough, says tickets for the talk, at the University of Teesside's cinema, are selling fast.

Mr Tippet has more than 20 years experience in film animation and has worked on countless blockbusters including Jurassic Park, Robocop and the original Star Wars trilogy.

He appears tomorrow between 3pm and 5pm as part of Animex, the university's international animation conference, which features screenings, workshops and lectures.

Festival organiser Chris Williams said: "Securing Phil Tippet's commitment was a major coup for us as he is simply one of the most influential, famous and in-demand animators in the world today.

"The whole festival is a celebration of what makes animation such a great art form. It is a fantastic way for the public to learn more and for people within the industry to meet and make new contacts."
