Bishop Auckland chairman Tony Duffy insists that the club won't be leaving Kingsway unless they have a ground to move to.

Bishops had a meeting earlier this week with Wear Valley District Council, and they're still hopeful that their proposed ground move to Tindale Crescent can still go ahead, as long as they can obtain the necessary grants from the Football Foundation.

But the date is fast approaching of the sale of the football part of Kingsway, and when that happens, then the club will move elsewhere, providing they have somewhere to go to.

"We can't sign anything for the sale of Kingsway unless we have another ground to play on," said Duffy. "That was one of the conditions which our members insisted upon at our Annual General Meeting.

"In other words, we cannot move unless we have somewhere to go to. We could groundshare somewhere, but that would depend on whether the facilities are up to standard, and whether the UniBond League would sanction a groundshare. We are involved in a long drawn out situation"

Spennymoor United would be the most obvious choice for groundsharing, although there is the possibility of a share with a club in the Northern League.

But definitely out of the reckoning is Darlington's Feethams, which could be empty when Quakers move to their new ground by the start of the new season. Bishop Auckland's Durham Challenge Cup semi final at South Shields has been arranged for Tuesday night.

Spennymoor are through to the semi final of the chairman's cup with Premier Division clubs Worksop and Droylsden as well as First Division Harrogate Town.

Premier Division club Bamber Bridge have been deducted a point for fielding an ineligible player in their league game at Hucknall on December 29th. The decision will be a relief for Whitby, who were level with them in joint third from bottom spot.
