The family of a Darlington father-of-two who died following a drunken man's "sick" game have described a one-year extension to his killer's sentence "disgusting".
Paul Simpson, 33, died after being punched in the face and hitting his head on the kerb as he fell.
His family have been left devastated by the Court of Appeal's decision this morning to extend Alfred Welch's sentence from three years to four, of which he is likely to only serve two.
Welch, 21, of Harris Street, Darlington, was jailed after admitting manslaughter at Teesside Crown Court last July.
The family's feelings have been reflected in comments by the Victims of crime Trust organisation.
